  • Reduce the likelihood of complications or side effects

Sculptra Pre-Care Instructions

Following the steps below prior to your treatment will help you achieve optimal results and minimize side effects.

72 hours prior to your appointment

Stop taking Ibuprofen, Motrin, Advil, Vitamin E, and Fish Oil before your appointment. These can increase the risk of bruising, swelling, or bleeding at the injection sites, so avoiding them helps ensure a smoother, safer treatment.

Cease the use of exfoliating products and retinoids, including Retinol. These products can make your skin more sensitive and prone to irritation, which may affect healing and the overall outcome of your treatment.

48 hours prior to your appointment

Refrain from alcohol consumption and smoking. Both can interfere with the healing process, increase the risk of bruising or swelling, and slow your body’s ability to recover.

Day of Appointment

Come to your appointment with fresh, cleansed skin, free of makeup, lotions, or oils. This ensures that the treatment area is fully visible, allows the product to be applied accurately, and reduces the risk of irritation or infection.

Let us know if you are currently taking any antibiotics, have had recent dental work, or have any cuts, abrasions, or other breaks in the skin. These factors can affect healing and the safety of your treatment.

Stay hydrated. Proper hydration supports skin health, helps your body recover efficiently, and can contribute to smoother, more effective results.

Sculptra Post-Care Instructions

To ensure your results last and look their best, follow these post-care instructions closely. Proper aftercare will help your skin heal smoothly and enhance the effectiveness of your treatment.

For 48 hours after your appointment

Avoid heavy exercise or any strenuous physical activity. Increased blood flow and heat from workouts can reduce neurotoxin effectiveness and increasing the risk of bruising or swelling. Gentle movement, such as walking, is fine during this period.

For 5 days after your appointment

Massage the treated area five times a day for five minutes each, for the first five days. Use clean hands with gentle pressure, and you may incorporate a dermal roller and soothing serums if your skin is not irritated.

For 2 weeks after your appointment

Avoid massages, facials, or any treatments that apply pressure to the face. These activities can disrupt the placement of the product and cause it to spread to unintended areas.

During this time, also avoid using facial rollers, gua sha tools, or other devices that press or glide across the skin. Giving your skin a break from these treatments ensures the neurotoxin settles properly and provides the most precise results.

General Upkeep

If you notice redness, bruising, swelling, or tenderness at the injection sites, applying a cold compress can help provide relief. Use the compress gently for short intervals—around 10–15 minutes at a time—to reduce inflammation without putting pressure on the treated areas.

Avoid sun exposure until redness and swelling subside. Always use broad-spectrum SPF 50+ and reapply regularly.
