Laser Hair Removal Pre-Care Instructions

Following the steps below prior to your treatment will help you achieve optimal results and minimize side effects.

2 weeks prior to your appointment

Avoid any direct sun exposure, as UV damage can increase your risk of irritation, burns, or hyperpigmentation during your session.

Apply a broad-spectrum SPF 45 daily to keep your skin protected, even if you’re mostly indoors.

Self-tanners should also be avoided, as they can interfere with the laser’s ability to effectively target the hair follicle.

In addition, discontinue plucking and waxing—these methods remove the hair follicle, which is necessary for the laser to work.

7 days prior to your appointment

Stop using topical exfoliants, retinoids, and other resurfacing products. These can thin and sensitize the skin, making it more reactive to laser energy and increasing the chance of side effects like redness or irritation.

24-48 hours prior to your appointment

Shave the treatment area so the laser energy can focus on the follicle beneath the skin rather than surface hair. Do not wax or pluck. Shaving ensures the best results while protecting your skin from burns.

Day of treatment

Arrive with fresh, clean, and shaven skin. Avoid applying any lotions, oils, perfumes, or deodorant to the treatment area.

Hydrate well the day of your session, as healthy skin responds more comfortably to laser energy.

Laser Hair Removal Post-Care Instructions

Caring for your skin after your laser hair removal treatment is just as important as preparing beforehand. Proper after-care helps minimize side effects, protect your skin, and maximize your results. Please follow these guidelines:

For 24 hours after your appointment

Keep the treated area clean and dry. Use a gentle, fragrance-free cleanser if needed and avoid scented soaps, lotions, or body sprays that could cause irritation.

Do not apply makeup to the treated area during this period to allow your skin to settle.

For 48 hours after your appointment

Avoid high-intensity workouts, saunas, or any activities that cause excessive sweating. Heat and perspiration can irritate freshly treated skin and slow healing.

For 2 weeks after your appointment

Protect your skin by avoiding sun exposure to the treatment area and continuing to wear SPF 45 daily. Do not use self-tanner, as it may irritate the skin and interfere with your results.

General Upkeep

Only shave between treatments; avoid waxing, tweezing, or epilating, as these remove the follicle that the laser targets.

To achieve the best and most consistent results, book your next session within 4–6 weeks or as soon as you notice hair regrowth.
